Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

To glorify God by making disciples through the faithful preaching, teaching, study and application of His word in order to provide a strong biblical foundation that equips us for the work of ministry as we engage the world for Christ.

Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church exists as a body of Christ serving the Eastern Shore communities of Baldwin County for the glory of God and the corporate joy of His people, who have been drawn together by His Holy Spirit for multiple purposes in order to enjoy Him forever, some of which include:

• Worship — of our one Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)

• Fellowship — as we exhort one another to love and good works through both large and small gatherings of the saints.

• Instruction — in God’s Word, which is “our only rule of faith and practice,” that we may be enabled, encouraged, and motivated to become more conformed to the image of Christ.

• Protection — from a social and worldview that seeks to deceive and lead the church astray, accomplished by gaining and growing in biblical theology/doctrine that leads to godly living (right practice).

• Education — (in accordance with 2 Timothy 2:15) To grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the whole counsel of God by rightly dividing the word of truth to equip both adults and children with a biblical worldview who will inspire, impact, and serve their community.

• Missions Focused — we are committed to a robust missionary emphasis and seek to reach around the world via missionaries and agencies supported by our church through Faith Promise Giving for Missions and short-term missions. We also encourage, train, and assist members to share the gospel with everyone within their spheres of influence, both domestically and internationally.

Our Vision

To be a Christ-exalting church marked by spiritual maturity, rooted in sound doctrine as revealed in Scripture, worshiping the triune God in spirit and in truth. We labor by grace in the pursuit of godliness, to proclaim the gospel with boldness to a lost world, and to love one another sacrificially, as Christ has first loved us—all to the glory of God alone.

Core Values

1. The Bible is the supreme and final authority on all matters on which it speaks. Being faithful to the scriptures, we seek to live according to their teachings and principles, which include obedience to God’s commandments, trusting in His promises, and demonstrating integrity in all areas of life.

2. Upholding, affirming, and adhering to Reformed Theology centered in the historic confessional standards of Presbyterianism, as delineated by the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms, which serve to protect the church from false doctrine and teaching (Titus 1:9).

3. Christ-centered Worship that exalts the Triune God in spirit and truth whose elements are rooted in the regulative principle. The purpose of corporate worship is the glory of God, in which the worshippers recognize that Christ is the Mediator by whom alone they can come unto God and honor Christ as the head of His Church (John 4:24).

4. Gospel-centered expository preaching that proclaims the whole counsel of God. Scripture is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, our only rule of faith that defines what we believe, and practice that guides how we are to live in this world (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

5. Equipping the saints for the work of ministry through intentional and relational mentoring. Seeking to develop mature disciples as modeled by our Lord with His disciples. Learning and applying the Gospel Truths found in scripture as we study, pray, fellowship, and live life together (Ephesians 4:11-16; 2 Timothy 2:2).

6. Obedience to the Great Commission, proclaiming the saving gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ both locally and globally through Faith Promise giving and by deploying our congregants to engage the lost with bold compassion (Matthew 28:18-20).

7. Recognizing and developing the gifts our Lord has given to each of our congregants. Our Pastoral Staff is committed to train God’s people in the work of ministry (Ephesians 4).

8. Esteem an educational process for our children based on Biblical principles whereby through God’s grace future members, officers and Missionaries are raised up to serve the bride of Christ, His church (2 Timothy 2:15).

9. Depending on the Holy Spirit, the church leadership consistently teach, encourage and model personal intimate fellowship with Christ and personal holiness to our congregants, instilling this as the culture of ESPC (John 15: 4-5, 11; Hebrews 12:1-2; Colossians 3:1-2, 1 Peter 1:15-16).
